Tribute to
Doctor Kalaignar Karunanidhi
3 June 1924 – 7 August 2018
In my view , there are two types of people in Tamilnadu. One
who is supporting Kalaignar Karunanidhi or one who is opposing Kalaignar
Karu for  his
contributions to Tamils and Tamil Language and for his measures to achieve   social justice .He was a non-believer till he
breathed his last.  But it is ironical
that   his supporters prayed in temples,
mosques and churches for his long life. Such was his popularity .
nanidhi. Even his opponents held him in esteem
With the passing away of Kalaignar Karunanidhi an epoch comes
to an end in the political firmament  of
Tamilnadu. His oratory and writing skills were  unparalleled
. His wrote dialogues for many films . Of these,  his dialogues for  the movie “ Paraasakthi”   roused up
Tamils  consciousness for  Self-respect ,Social Justice and
secularism.  He was instrumental in making
Tamilnadu a socially progressive state . He had  “Thanthai Periyar”  and “ Perarignar Annadurai”  as his
mentors . While he was the Chief minister , as a  honest disciple to his mentors, he   implemented progressive schemes aimed  at  social equality  .He brought legislation for reservation for
women in Government jobs. He declared May day as holiday in Tamilnadu for state
Government staff and other establishments.    He was
the president of the party for nearly 50 years. He won all the  13
assembly elections he contested. Never lost even for a single time.
His academic records may be poor but he was  an outstanding literary figure with rich  knowledge on Tamil literature. His unique
style of   writing the   language
in flamboyant and beautiful way won many hearts. His writings on Tamil literature
enthused the youth and goaded them to read old Tamil literature. They made
Tamils to feel pride of their language and culture
His administrative skills in taking swift decisions were
awe-inspiring to the bureaucrats who worked with him. He was known for his
political acumen in making accurate calculation of election arithmetic. He was
multi-faceted and multi-talented personality. His memory power was amazing that
he would recollect minute details of anything on any occasion.
Adept in punning with words, his replies   in the
assembly and for the press were full of wit and wisdom  . He was writer, poet, orator and politician .He
imprinted his marks whatever field he entered. He became a history now .He
fought all the time for reservation for the  uplift of the underprivileged. In his death
too he fought a place in Marina and won.  Let his soul rest in peace and guide  to uphold secularism and caste-amity in
Tamilnadu
